As a first time parent, I had no idea how truly daunting finding childcare is. I asked friends and neighbors what they did and three families from three completely different sectors of my life told me about Mangala. One was a family that now had teenage daughters and the others were just about to age out and start kindergarten.
At the moment, my son was too young to start there so I looked at other places, but something my mother said kept me coming back to Mangala's. "If I lived close to you , I'd be watching my grandchild, but Mangala is the next best thing to leaving him with family." She was absolutely right. The children really get individualized, tailored attention. Her approach to teaching, behavior correction, affection etc is all based on how she observes each child's growing personality. She and her assistant really get to know each child's sensitivities, changing needs and interests.
Knowing children that had "graduated" from her facility, some with special needs, special dietary considerations, medical issues etc, I knew that she really understood how provide for children at varying levels and keep parents informed and included.
My now- kindergartner gets a lot of comments on how much he shows empathy and awareness for the needs of others, and I attribute that to Mangala and the example she set for socialization and building relationships.

We were referred to First Steps by a friend who had her children here. We put our daughter on the waiting list a few months ahead of time so that she could start when she turned 1. Mangala & her helpers are just absolutely wonderful. I know when I drop off my daughter she will be safe, she will have fun, & she will learn something in the process. She is always excited to go to school & I know they love her like their own. It's especially important to me for her to be somewhere wonderful because she has some delays with her walking & talking, & I know she is being taken care of, where they don't make her feel bad for needing a little extra time to get caught up. I've also been very impressed with how well they've handled COVID. They have been extremely careful, following all rules & being sure all of the parents do their part as well. I'm so grateful we found such a loving place for our daughter. I know I don't have to worry when she's there.

We were referred to Mangala (who goes by Auntie with the children) by good friends and couldn't be happier. Mangala is absolutely wonderful! We live in West Hollywood and Auntie's daycare is in the Valley, but we are at peace with a longer drive solely because we trust and think so highly of Auntie. Our kids are the most important people in our lives and so we were originally a little hesitate to put our little ones in daycare anywhere as there is so much trust involved, especially when they are so young. Also, one of our daughters is very high energy and strong willed. Not everyone is equipped to deal with her intense personality, but Auntie is so loving, patient and smart...she really knows how to deal with each individual child's needs and quirks in such a compassionate manner. I also know my girls love her, because even with their limited vocabulary "Go see Auntie" is quite clear and they always run inside with huge smiles on their faces to greet her every morning. That makes me feel even better about our choice to put them in Auntie's Montessori. Truly, I couldn't recommend her more highly!

As cliche as it sounds, I really don't know how to begin but by saying this is the best daycare I have ever found for my two young children, with the most lovely, warm-hearted woman running it, Auntie.
Auntie is extremely communicative (talkative, warm, great sense of humor), sends me photos/videos of my son & daughter throughout the day, in a quiet, safe neighborhood setting, easy parking/approach, big CLEAN playroom, private sleeping area for my two toddlers, a HUGE and safe backyard, wholesome, home-cooked meals and snacks, lots of singing and play, very friendly children and parents.... What more could a toddler (and parent) want?!
