About the business
I have a large day care license in a residential home with a large, fenced backyard. I I am located in the middle of Mira Mesa, at the top of Sorrento Valley. My hours are Monday-Friday from 7:00AM - 5:30PM. I have a Liberal Studies degree from SDSU, which includes early childhood education. I have been in the childcare industry for 30 years. I have completed 5 years in the YMCA's San Diego Quality Preschool Initiative. I focus on proper nutrition, socialization, character building and Kindergarten preparedness.
My program includes:
-Homemade, nutritious breakfast, lunch and snack. We avoid processed foods, like those the made with chemicals and additives, sugar, food dyes and canola/vegetable/seed oils
-Social emotional support as they learn how to interact with their peers
-Potty training support once the parents decided they are ready
-Plenty of age appropriate books, toys and manipulatives for gross and small motor development, dramatic play, social and language and cognitive development
-Group time activities: story time, music & dance, discussions on food and nutrition, discussions on good character traits, coloring, puzzles, play dough, toddler Bible stories, letters and phonics, numbers, colors, shapes, etc.
-A consistent daily schedule with plenty of free play, offering frequent changes in activities to prevent boredom and keep the children excited about learning.
-30+ year proven curriculum created by my mom, who had a master's degree in education. The curriculum is designed to teach the children their letters and sounds and then beginning spelling and reading.
-Work together with the parents to help develop their child's social, emotional and cognitive skills.
-CPR and First Aid certification are kept current.

Valerie was recommended by another family care owner to us this February when we were drastically looking for a family care for our 1- and 3- year old boys. The boys have been with Valerie and Robert for almost three months. I have to say that we are so lucky to have them and they have definitely exceeded our expectation. We actually worried so much before we sent the boys out, because my 5-year-old boy had hard time when he was in both a family care and a preschool. However, to our big surprise, the boys got used to Valerie and Robert in less than a week! Every morning, they shout "YEAH!" when I tell them that "Let's go to Valerie.", which remind me of my 5-year-old boy, who drastically held me and cried even when he was in the family care for months. We would like to sincerely thank them a million times for their fantastic care! I have already recommended her to my colleagues and won't hesitate to recommend her and Robert to anybody else!

It takes a villlage to raise a child and I don't know where I would be if several friends had not recommended Ms. Valerie. My 4 year old been with her a year now and he has drastically improved from his prior child care center. Her nutritious meals are a hit I am constantly asking for recipes because my kids love her food very attentive To the children and I am updated regularly. I couldn't ask for a better partner in helping me raise, educate, and nurture my children. She is very knowledgeable and I would recommend her to all my family and friends.

After experiencing several daycare places, Miss Valerie's home daycare is definitely the best and she's for sure the person we are looking for. She's always doing a fantastic job with a lot of caring and helping. We can't even feel happier to send my kid to Miss Val, cause my kid loves Miss Val and is willing to go to day care every single day, which never happens before. I can see the big change since we send our kid to Miss Val's place.

Valerie is exceptional as a daycare provider, and practically feels like an extra parent to our daughter ;) She has cared for my daughter for over 2 years and we are truly sad it's time to move on. First off, she feeds very nutritious meals to the kids, and easily accommodated her allergies (peanuts, dairy, and previously soy). Valerie did her own research to come up with other meal options without dairy, for example, and even created homemade desserts for her when they celebrated others' birthdays. My daughter never felt left out or different! She has yummy, healthy meals, including vegetable/fruit smoothies that the kids enjoy. I can't say enough great things about the education either. She teaches them letters, but more importantly focuses on teaching the sounds for recognition and an easier transition into reading/spelling. My daughter was learning things at 3 years old that my first child learned in Kindergarten. Like i said, exceptional. Valerie is also very communicative and is a mom of 3 grown kids herself, so she has lots of experience. We will greatly miss Valerie and the warm, caring setting she provided in her home. I highly recommend her!

Valerie Poston has exceeded our expectations and beyond. As young parents, we were nervous to let our first child go in to daycare so early on, but she eased our worries from the get go. We knew we wanted our daughter to go to Early Advantage from the start. Around the age of 2-3 months, Valerie asked us to bring our daughter in 2-3 days a week for a few hours a day so that our daughter knew who she was by the time she had to start going there full time when she was 5 months old. Our daughter wasn't nervous or scared on her first full day because Valerie got her used to the house sounds, smells, and other children prior to starting. Since then, our daughter is now almost 11 months loves going to Early Advantage! She is excited to see her friends & Valerie. Valerie is in constant communication with the parents about what is going on, what foods they are eating/trying for the week, and there are always fun activities she is doing with the kids. We could't have imagined a better place or person to watch our daughter!

We have been with Miss Valerie for 3 years and I have nothing but positive things to say about her! She cares about the kids' safety, health, education, and experience as if they were her own. My oldest daughter (3 years old) learned her alphabet and letter sounds from Miss Valerie. They do crafts, play outside, and even have some water days (kiddie pool) when it is hot. She is very conscientious of the kids' diet. She is sure to get in fruit and even vegetables everyday! My girls love Miss Valerie. We are so blessed to have her.
