Marie and her one employee provide a welcoming atmosphere for children and help to celebrate special occasions and holidays. I am grateful for the learning and care my child received. However, the administrative side of this business was very disappointing. This rating mostly reflects that.

During the month of July, I paid a full month of tuition. My child was out for much of the month spending time with family. I gave the owner, Marie, two weeks notice of our return date. However, despite having given Marie two weeks' notice of my child's return date to daycare, the day before our return, she sent an email and said my child could not come for two days because she had given her employee a vacation. She refused to give me a refund for those days, despite the daycare being open for other children. She also ignored my follow-up email when I sent her a screenshot showing that I had given two weeks notice of our return to the daycare. During that same week, Marie had a family emergency, but instead of closing the daycare for all, she selected who should be denied childcare. For the third time in one week, she refused to provide regular daycare service that had been paid for, while other families were allowed to bring their children. She refused to provide a refund for this as well. I would urge interested parents to ask what the policy is when she or an employee are not available for work on a given day. If the childcare is at a higher capacity level, then this could affect you as it did me. It does not seem to be a reasonable policy to deny daycare and to deny a refund when services are not provided.

Marie is not without kindness. On two occasions, I asked her or her employee about a late fee and she said it was not a problem. However, that does not seem comparable to withholding paid childcare for three out of five days in one week. I would also urge parents to ask about Marie's communication policies. When I asked for a refund for the three days in July she complained that I had been dropping off my child early, though she never communicated this to me, as I believed my drop off time to be correct. I would urge parents to request a photocopy of the contract signed (or to make their own photocopy), as this was not provided for me.

I would finally urge interested parents to ask about Marie's runny nose policy. I was regularly required to keep my child home for two or three days every time he got a cold (which is sometimes multiple times a month for a toddler). This was very hard to manage as a working parent. This was even the expected policy when rapid covid tests were available. It is her childcare business and she makes her own rules, but it is something I wish I had known more about. She once suggested I get a doctor's note stating my child was not contagious, which felt like an unusual thing to do for a common cold.

Overall, my child was happy there, but my interactions with the business owner, Marie, were stressful.

Without reservation I rate Marie Salas daycare with the highest marks with regards to her care for my daughter who entered school in an advanced level thanks through the careful watch, nurturing and education of Marie. What I was looking for in a daycare center is a provider who would first of all show kindness, compassion, patients and educate my daughter according to her age. She far exceeded my expectations. She first off provided a loving home. My daughter sometimes did to not want to come home because she was having so much fun as she clutched on to Marie and also chose to play with other children in the center. This touched my heart greatly. She is also up-to-date in parameters and guidelines deemed by daycare state requirements that I studied before I entrusted my daughter to her. Once again with the highest possible ratings I recommend Marie Salas as an excellent childcare provider. Thank you Marie with all my heart. Sincerely Dr Michaels

We enrolled our daughter at Alarid-Salas Family Childcare when she was one. Within days she was more excited to go to day care than come home. She made new friends and her development advanced significantly. Marie, Alma and Dee are wonderful. They provided and safe and clean space for our daughter that even I, the most protective and cautious of parents, felt comfortable leaving our little girl everyday. They have a well-rounded and comprehensive education program, combined with first rate child care. I would definitely recommend Alarid-Salas Family Childcare to anyone who wants their child to get a strong start on their education a hind socialization.

Teacher Marie has created a safe, loving, and fun environment, and our daughter absolutely loved going there everyday. We also noticed a huge improvement in her social skills and vocabulary soon after starting at the day care. Wonderful, enriching place with tons of personal attention. Highly, highly recommend Alarid-Salas family daycare.

Dear John, If you gave me a 1-star rating because of the hourly rate. I just want to clarify that I DO NOT charge $200 an hour. That is an error and I will have it corrected immediately Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Teacher Marie provides a safe, nurturing and age appropriate academic development that helps children discover and explore in ways that make them very happy. It's a wonderful feeling know you child is in good hands while we are at work. I've sent her many referrals and all have been very pleased.
