| I am a qualified and experienced Italian secondary school teacher (Italian language and literature, Humanities), awarded QTS in England, where I am living since 2014. Although I never worked as a SEN teacher, as in Italy we have no special schools, I worked with children of any special kind, supported if needed by a SEN teacher or a TA. I have never considered myself to be just “a teacher”; teaching has always come naturally to me. My students always appreciated my total commitment to their success, how competent I was, how coherent I was in expecting and reciprocating a respectful behaviour. In those years, teaching 11 to 14-year olds, my aim was always to make my students feel supported and understood in their needs and experiences. I ensured that our learning environment was safe and perceived as a safe and enjoyable working field in which all of us were appreciated and rewarded for our work. Furthermore, the attention I naturally dedicated to my students was perceived as a form of love, an essential ingredient, in my opinion, for any kind of learning to be possible. | I have worked with in a school for Autistic children & challenging behaviour. I have completed my Makaton foundation level and enhanced. I am familiar with PECS & have had Timian training for restraint. I have also completed first aid trainin as well as understanding Autism. I consider myself a very patient & compasssionate person, many years of understanding, regarding ADHD as my daughter was diagnosed some years ago. I have also provided personal care to children within school & believe there should be no limits set with SEN children.
