I have previously volunteered for 2 years in an NGO that dealt with children and youth from troubled families, some of which had mild mental illnesses. I went to the center three times per week for an average of 4-5 hours. Currently, I am employed as a support worker for people with mental health problems and physical impairments. I have been working here for three months and have received training for medication, fire safety, first aid, person centered care, nutrition and meal planning, etc. My responsibilities go from helping with personal care, cooking, housework to giving medication, documenting the progress as well as incidents and accompanying my clients anywhere they wish to or need to go. The reason why I love caring for people with special needs is because I feel I'm making a difference. I've always been a people pleaser and I've realised from a young age that I would be most successful in a work environment that involves people and human interaction. I believe that I can provide satisfying care as I involve myself emotionally and try to give my clients a sense of security, loyalty and trust.

I myself have a disability, although I would like to stress it is purely physical and though often mistaken for cognative, this is not the case. In my previous work, I mostly worked in a single environment, though I did occasionally take clients on trips out to London etc. I feel that having a disability myself and being misjudged can help me understand others in my situation better. | I am a mother of three one of which had adhd, odd, Irlan syndrome and on cusp of aspergeous. I learnt very quickly that people shy away from you esp when your child is not acting like there child. After much persistence my son became a man happy and for filled in life. I went to work at Suffolk one college for special needs with 80 students ranging from all different disabilities. I then worked at better health care domicillary providing support and medical plus care needs to the most vulnerable and niw work with a gentleman with complex needs. | I am a cheerful, experience kind person who loves to care either children and elderly with or without any physical or mental disability. I am working partime as a support worker for people with disabilities and I have 3 children's, ages between 7-15, but still have availability to do more hours and support other individuals when arrange beforehand.
