Experience: 3 Years
I started in voluntary work, in order to meet people, get used to a working environment, be part of a team, and obtain experience. I liked dealing with members of the public particularly the elderly and I developed an interest in being part of the caring profession. I have been in the caring environment for 36 months and have learnt essential clinical skills in personal patient care, both practically and theoretically.
I always try and treat people how I would like to be treated, such as making sure clients look and smell good, even putting on make up where appropriate.
I try to strive to do what I say. I can work flexibly and can do long and varied hours. I focus on what matters most to the client by prioritising and communication, one client wants to have breakfast before she showers and dresses, so I make sure her daily routine is in this order. I do what I can to get things done, either through working autonomously or as part of a team. I like working with the elderly, I feel I have a lot to offer them in terms of my skills, but more importantly, I feel that they have a lot to offer me in terms of their experiences and life wisdom.
