I began working with children and young people aged 14 yrs. old whereby I babysat for local families. I worked as a Nanny for a beautiful family with 3 children (3,7,9yrs old) whilst at university for 2 and a half years, and provided early morning, after-school, evening, and weekend care. After graduating in 2019, I worked in a care home for young people with both physical and learning disabilities, taking on a supervisory role taking pastoral care of all young people within the home. Here I received first aid-training specific to children and young people, with numerous challenging emergency situations and a lot of learning opportunities.
I have two beautiful nieces whom I played a significant role in their care during the first 4 years of their life. Whilst studying for my masters I worked as a COVID-19 vaccinator with St John Ambulance, which allowed me to brush up on my first aid skills. After graduating I was offered a job in adult mental health services but wish to continue working with children and young people in some capacity as I feel I have a lot to offer. I believe that children are inherently kind and need to be nurtured by a village, particularly after the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic.
