I agree with an earlier reviewer. Our child went here for more than a year and they helped us several times with backup care, but their practice of leaving the door propped open never made me feel safe. I believe the manager has an early childhood background but our son's teachers did not seem to and punished our then two year old for accidentally running into another child (by a teacher's own description). Our two year old was forced to sit in the director's office during a pumpkin painting activity as a result of this accident and I was told (in front of my son) that he had been "rotten" for (again in the teacher's own words) accidentally bumping into another child. When we found a place we felt better about and removed him, the owner did reach out, which I did appreciate however. While I wish a milder corrective action and further training took place instead, she also informed me she let go of the teacher who called our son rotten but stood by the decision of the teacher who decided on an extended office time out punishment for running into another child on accident. This is not an appropriate form of discipline for two year olds, nor was it appropriate for the situation however. As parents, we also would not have made our (or any other) two year old sit in another room for an hour or more to punish them for accidentally bumping into someone. We felt like he was singled out, which no parent feels good about. In the way of cheaper childcare, it was alright but we were looking for something that aligned with our childcare values, security and educational needs. Still, I appreciate that efforts were made to learn about why we were leaving to work toward improvement. I hope things did improve, as the owner did seem to care about ensuring satisfaction, but again, also agreed with the teacher's decision to put our son in an extended time out in the director's office for running into another child on accident, which was not our only issue, but was the final childcare issue we allowed in our son's life from them. You be the judge. Either way, I would read their most recent compliance reports to learn if things may have improved. It would be great if they have.

The positives.

Overall, it's a decent facility. There's a lot of space both inside and out. It typically appears to be adequately clean and maintained. They seem to have a good child to staff ratio. Pricing is more than reasonable.

But...the negatives.

The quantity (ratio) of staff doesn't really equate to quality. Security is a fairly critical element when it comes to daycare. They have a nice electronic system controlling access. So, you'd think Milestones checks the box for adequate security. That'd be true, if they didn't constantly leave the entry doors propped open! Anyone can walk right in without providing credentials. Maybe that wouldn't be as big an issue if the staff had a decent view of the entry. But they don't. The office area is tucked away on the ground floor. So, when someone walks in, they've got free reign to head into the nursery or make a trip up the stairs without anyone noticing. They likely have cameras, but a staff too lazy to keep the entry secure probably isn't going to be watching the cameras very closely.

I can't definitively state why they are so careless with entry security, but the impression is that it all goes back to the staff. They're young. Which isn't an issue on its own. But they pretty much come across like they don't want to be there. They're unenthusiastic, and act like it's an inconvenience that they are tasked with interacting with parents and family each day. For perspective, think of your interactions with teen fast-food workers who only got a job because their parents made them. One gets the impression that they punch in everyday and then sit around counting the minutes until they can go home. If it's so miserable and boring, why are they still working there?

So, Milestones could be a decent and economical choice for parents...BUT not without some MAJOR staff adjustments. Propping the door open on such a regular basis is irresponsible, and flat out unacceptable. The lackluster attitudes make it even worse.

Security should be priority one. For that reason, I CANNOT recommend Milestones.

My three girls transitioned from an in-home center to Milestones and it has been a wonderful experience. Everyday we see the continual growth and progression in our girls, we see how they've been very hands on with their development. The staff is amazing, we couldn't ask for a better center!

I have been working at Milestones for almost a year now and I LOVE my job! We are all like one big family here. The atmosphere is just so fun and inviting. I can just tell how comfortable parents are when talking to me and other teachers. It's such a good feeling to hear parents giving us praise and thanking us for all that we do. We try our best to make it a comfortable place for children and their parents. I can't wait to start my own family because my children will go to Milestones without a doubt! I honestly can't imagine working at a different center!

My children have been going to Milestones for 2 1/2 years now and I absolutely love it here. I feel like my children are being dropped off with family, in a safe environment. When I had to look for a daycare in my area I was unsure if I was making the right decision in putting my kids in daycare. Once I became part of the Milestones family it was the best decision for my kids, Milestones has a great atmosphere, and amazing teachers that treat my children with love and care. Milestones started the foundation for my children to be equipped and prepared for school. They have great curriculum that is challenging, and keeps their minds stimulated. The teachers are sent to regular trainings for their continued education that equips them with the tools to properly teach the children. I strongly suggest that you bring your children to Milestones Learning Center to get the kind of education they deserve.
