About the business
Acres of Learning has been providing quality education for children ages two through 5th grade for over 25 years, opening in the Fall of 2008. Owned by Jim and Rhonda Hensley, and located on 8 acres of land, Acres of Learning has established and maintained caring and educational indoor teacher programs, as well as an extensive outdoor learning environment. With hands on experience, your outdoor enthusiast will learn about and participate in gardening, Equine care, raising farm yard chickens and so much more!
We know that by choosing Acres of Learning, your needs and those of your child's will be met. From our infant through school age care, we will help your child succeed in school and will support you in raising a bright, secure and well adjusted young student.
PREKINDERGARTEN: This program is designed for children who have completed the Letter of the Week preschool curriculum or equivalent. This program is the next step to reading! During the year, your child will learn many new sounds that will help develop reading skills. This program covers language arts, math (addition and subtraction), social studies, science and other subjects to create a complete pre-kindergarten program. Weekly themes will take the children through a complete year of the "Sound of the Week" curriculum, beginning with the /ck/ sound and ending with the /sc/ sound. Field trips are scheduled each quarter of the school year, relating to the season or theme of that period of time.
SCHOOL AGE YEAR ROUND PROGRAM: This classroom is a recreational after school and off track program for our 5 - 10 year old children. When you need a safe, structured and fun place for your school age children to be, Acres of Learning is the place. Upon arriving after school each day, a quiet homework time allows you peace of mind that in our supervised environment, homework requirements will be met.
Upon completion of homework, your school age child can participate in a variety of fun and relaxing activities after a long day spent at school. Board games, art/craft activities and teacher directed group games will keep their minds and bodies busy inside, and a half acre of outdoor play area keeps them moving until it's time to go home.

My family has used Hansen's off and on since 2007 and we would definitely recommend them to everyone! The children enjoy going and makes us parents happy knowing our kids are happy and safe environment. The teachers are outstanding and like family to us. They also have outside garden and teach kids about planting! Plus, they do a yearly Trike A Thon for St. Jude!

My daughter has been going to Hansen's (now called Acres of Learning) since 3 years old. She's now 5 and Acres picks her up at Kindergarten for aftercare. I could not have found a more nurturing place for my daughter. Excellent curriculum and outdoor play area, garden, horses, chickens, acreage, can not be beat. Best experience I could have hoped for.
