Nestled in a beautiful botanical setting our small home-based daycare center offers top of the line child care service and unique nature-oriented program that fosters children's natural sense of wonder and joy of discovery, nurtures their imagination and stimulates them towards learning in general. At Edgewood Academy we believe that children learn best through direct experiences and interaction with people and the world around them. While emphasizing the development of the whole child, we are focusing on strengthening cognitive skills, gross and fine motor skills, language and communication skills through active, hands-on learning where nature-related experiences play one of the most important roles. Edgewood Academy is dedicated to providing a warm and inviting atmosphere that allows children to develop at their own pace. Your child's individual needs are respected and attentively taking care of. My family has been with Edgewood Academy since 2017. I had both my son Ben and daughter Ava there. It became our family. The stuff is highly qualified and very loving and caring. Ms.Bee treats kids like her own, and gives them 100% of herself. This the best daycare in Stamford. I feel blessed that both of my children were a part of Edgewood Academy.

We went to visit with our daughter. It seems like a nice facility and they were expanding. We were told there would be availability, probably in July. We came away with a good feeling and the owner seems very nice. But, we never were contacted. My wife tried contacting them several times, without any response. Unfortunately, we had to go elsewhere. But, it would have been nice to hear from them.

I would highly recommend Edgewood Academy as a daycare! I had my two sons with Edgewood for a couple years and we had a very positive experience. It is a very caring place!

I have been the registered nurse for Edgewood Academy for 3+ years. I make a visit once a week. Every time I go, the place is immaculate, organized and fun. The kids look like they are having fun. If my girls were little, we would be sending them to Edgewood. The new edition going up is going to be beautiful. Highly recommend...Liz L.

Our son has been in Edgewood Academy for almost a year and since the very beginning we've been very pleased with the level of attention and care he receives. Yekaterina and her team do an amazing job of creating a warm & safe, as well as educational environment. This is not your run-of-the-mill daycare provider, who will leave your child in front of a TV or even to play with toys alone and mindlessly all day.
Caregivers are very attentive to the needs of the babies and they always communicate with parents.
I would highly recommend this daycare to anyone!

We were completely satisfied with Edgewood Academy, and certainly highly recommend it.
Our daughters were in another highly regarded preschool in a neighboring town that we were completely happy with, but for scheduling reasons we had to find another option. Edgewood was recommended by a friend, and we tried it after visiting and meeting Katia and the other staff.
Our experience was excellent. Beside a very welcoming and loving atmosphere with great care and attention to the safety and well being of the children, and lots of fun play activities, we were very please with the teaching and the pace at which our daughters were learning. We kept our oldest daughter at Edgewood until kindergarten started, and she was very well prepared for her new school, both socially and academically, and has done very well in kindergarten and first grade.

Our now 5yr old absolutely loved this place. He was always excited to go to school and always had a good time. The teachers were welcoming and were always ready to help the children with whatever they needed. I love the fact that they spent a lot of time outside. We can't wait to send our baby there as well.

A great home-based day care with lots of outdoor play which was important to us. Katia is very caring and understanding and really cares about the kids. When we left the day care, due to us moving out of town, Katia gave my son his favorite naptime bunny from there as a parting gift and that bunny has become his favorite source of comfort.

My daughter loved it here , it was a Home away from home for my little one and for us as well. We feel lucky to have found them. The day care is well designed to suit preschoolers of various ages. I have found the teachers to be patient. As a working mother I feel guilty to not be able to spend the required amount of time with my child, but in Mrs.Barker care, after a long day's work, I always came to have happy child who refused to come home with me!!!. Overall I have great memories with this day care.

After moving from Manhattan to Stamford, my wife and I were looking for a local daycare provider that matched the care we were receiving for our 1 year old. We joined care.com and were matched up with Katia Barker at Edgewood Academy. After receiving a tour and staying a few hours at Edgewood, my daughter and I didn't want to leave! Edgewood ensures your child understands the importance of nature as the kids are outside (weather-permitting) as much as possible; we've also found this decreases the amount of times our daughter has been sick which is obviously a huge plus!
My daughter and I are greeted with a warm smile every morning and she is always eager to unpack her bag, grab a book or a toy and wait for her friends to arrive. When I pick my daughter up at night, I am debriefed in person (highlights of the day) and made aware of anything we're running out of. My daughter gives giant hugs to her teachers before we leave and more often than not she wants to stay and play the night away.
Joining Edgewood Academy was by far the best decision we've ever made. We have a second daughter on the way in March and couldn't be more confident in Edgewood's ability to care for our children. I'll give the same advice I received when we phoned a parent of an Edgewood student for a reference prior to enrolling...if you're lucky enough to get a spot at Edgewood, just do it!

There may be many child care options in Stamford, but Edgewood Academy is one of the best! Katia Barker and her staff have created a warm and wonderful place for children to play, learn, and enjoy their childhood. The children attending Edgewood Academy are so happy and feel very secure, for they receive wonderful care in a loving, nurturing environment. The teachers provide great learning opportunities in a program that focuses on nature, indoor and outdoor play, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences. The families represent a wide variety of cultures, and all come together to form a community, which is kind and respectful toward one another, and who are respectfully supported by the program staff. I cannot say enough WONDERFUL things about Edgewood Academy. Our older daughter joyfully attended the school for 3 years and was completely ready for Kindergarten both educationally and emotionally. Our younger daughter now attends the daycare because we could not imagine sending her anyplace else. It is truly a magical setting of love and care for young children.
The cleanliness of the center is unmatched. Not only do the teachers and owners clean multiple times throughout the day, but a professional cleaner comes once a week as well.
The staff know the children exceedingly well. They send home daily reports about each day's activities and always greet families with friendly words and smiles.
An example of the outstanding personalized care is as follows: One day Mrs. Barker suggested that our daughter may have an ear infection even though she had shown no such signs at home. She said that her behavior was just "different" that day. Her prediction was indeed correct and by getting to the doctor early, we were able to save our daughter from unnecessary pain and discomfort.
Our daughter receives Early Intervention for Speech. Her speech specialist is invited into the daycare to work with her. Another testament to the outstanding environment Mrs. Barker has created is that the therapist has shared with us multiple times how impressed she is with the care and teaching she sees from all of the staff members.
I, myself, have been teaching elementary school for over 20 years. I know what it takes to teach and care for children. I was very thorough in my search for child care for just that very reason. I recommend Edgewood Academy to people on a regular basis, as do my friends and family who know of our wonderful experiences. Your child is sure to greet each day with a smile if you choose to send him or her to this fabulous school.

As a pervious employee at Edgewood Academy I can tell you that your kids will be safe and happy here. All of the employees treat each child with love and care. We truly want the best for every child and that is where my passion came from when I was working at Edgewood Academy. Each staff member is patient, kind and tender. If you are looking to send your child to any school it is this one.
