My Mother lived at Oakmont of Chino Hills for 4+ years. She loved it there, the caregivers were wonderful and she had many friends. The only complaint that I have at this time, is that they couldn't or would'nt provide insulin care for her diabetes once she became unable to inject it herself due to dementia and physical strength. We had to move mom to another facility a few miles away, where she didn't know anyone; no friends, and new caregivers she wasn't familiar with. It would have been nice to keep her where she had friends and people who loved her during the last 4 months of her life, and Oakmont wasn't able to provide that for her. I think they could have adopted a plan of care for those people who are diabetic (I'm sure there are plenty at Oakmont) bringing on an RN as they do at another facility, Pacifica, where we had to move Mom. The RN would come in just for the meal times and provide the insulin injections just for those residents.
