Special Needs Care in Swansea

| Hello,I am a private self employed care worker i hold a nvq 2 in direct care certificate and also have a currant dbs and various other certificates. I have a background in all types of care as over the 20 years I have gained a lot of experience and working for a care agency I got sent to a lot of projects including working with autism I also work 2 nights a week in a care setting in mumbles. Working with autism can be very challenging and also rewarding and how they all have very different personality. | My name is Ffion, I am 24 years old and currently training to be a learning disability nurse at the University of South Wales. I have worked in 3 special schools within Swansea, i have experience with a variety of different needs.

I have recently returned from Australia where I cared for a teenage boy with special needs. Whilst there, I lived with him and his family. I arranged educational days out for us, took him to partake in volunteering once a week, went on bike rides and cooked the family meal once a week with him. I also have had unpaid work experience in the bishopgore STF unit where I assisted the school children during classes. I also have a cousin who has cerebral palsy who I look after when needed.

| I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to enjoy life on their terms and that they deserve the help required in order to achieve this. I aim to enable people i support to have a full and rewarding life. I offer support at the level required whether it's companionship, mobility issues or personal care, I always aim to do my best to give the person I support as much dignity and quality of life as i can, diong all i can to make it a rewarding and comfortable experience.

| The main existence of all humans revolves around love. I've learned and known this growing up and due to my experience. You can't say you love until you've really experienced what it means to love which is sacrifice what drives me and keep me going in life is seeing others happy and putting a smile on their face irrespective of whatever it will take me that's why they say it isn't love unless it comes from a place of sacrifice. When I was 15 years the doctors diagnosed my granny with Alzheimer's disease and predicted she has less than 2 years to live I've always loved my granny so much and I took it upon myself to make sure I care for her by making sure she has her meds taken at the right time and dosage as prescribed by the doctor and always been there whenever she needs emotional support and caring for her physical hygiene needs making sure she and her surroundings are neat always to the surprise of the doctors my granny was able to live for about 3 and half years more which fueled my desire to work in an elderly care home for one year making sure I took good care of the elders so they do not feel neglected or unloved I'll be really happy if my application is considered it'll be a dream come true for me.

| Hi, my name is Emilie and I'm an experienced caregiver looking for work in the Swansea area. My older brother has a genetic condition and is severely mentally and physically disabled, I've been taking part in his care most of my life. Last year I also started working part-time at a Saturday club for 8-18-year-olds with various special needs which expanded my caregiving experience. My client's comfort, happiness and safety are of utmost importance to me. I strive to create a friendly, stimulating environment that supports my clients and their needs.

| Hi, I’m Maria I just have started psychology studies at University and I’m looking for a job related to my interests. Back in my country I’ve spent a few months working with a eight years old child with a Down syndrome and I find it the most satisfying job I’ve ever had. I’d love to develop myself in this field by working with people with autism/ Down’s syndrome. I was also volunteering taking care of older people with such disabilities. I’m ok with pets :)

I volunteered at a Primary School for 4 months as a teaching assistant and I spent a considerable amount of time as a one on one support for children with learning difficulties and autism in Nursery, Reception, Year 2 and Year 4. I was trusted by the school to work with these children, so I got to know them, what they like and don't like. We had lots of fun together and enjoyed doing lots of activities together. I also volunteer as a Sunday School Teacher and Creche Supervisor and in my Sunday School class is a boy with autism. I incorporate him into the lessons, encouraging the other children to engage and play with him and I ensure that he is relaxed and enjoying.
