My core values throughout my career are to inspire, motivate and challenge children to meet their full potential. I am a teaching assistant with high expectations. I am committed to providing the best possible learning experiences for each and every child I and am passionate about instilling a love of learning in the children I work with.
In my current role, I have experience of effectively working with a variety of children with complex emotional and behavioural needs within the classroom setting. This has included ASD, ADHD, SEMH and trauma. I have been an integral part of the implementation of specific designated safe spaces, such as a ‘yoga corner’ and a ‘mindfulness’ library corner, that children can use when experiencing difficulties. This allows me to talk through, validate and empathise with their emotions and help them regulate and re-engage with learning. I have also created individual work stations, visual supports and individualised and meaningful reward systems. I consistently model positive praise and positive correctional language, building trusting relationships and safe, secure environments.
