I am a calm, confident, caring person and my role is very much focused on person centred care. | Castle Health- Helping Hands Limited has been set up by me and co founder in 2015, as we felt there was an urgent need for a company to assist with the needs of the elderly. After my BSc Biology degree was completed back in 2013 I have always known I've wanted to work with others and was preparing myself for a career in the Healthcare community. Whilst carrying out placement work at numerous hospitals in my local area South Wales I had the privilege of working on many wards where I experienced many encounters with the elderly generation. It was from here I felt very passionate about working with the elderly in particular. Many patients told me of their distress in returning home as they felt alone and unable to carry out basic tasks for themselves such as cleaning and trips to the shops etc. This is when I decided with my co founder who has over 40 years of experience in the Healthcare community that we should do something about this and help out. I understand there are a lot of care companies out there, however we felt the simple things in life such as companionship, transportation, and even keeping a tidy home are somewhat side tracked sometimes. Since then we have been helping many families and individuals keep up to date with their household chores and needs. We really enjoy making a difference to someone's day and whether it be a friendly chat and trip to the shops or making a house dazzle again we take pride in all that we do. Our friendly and reliable staff have made such positive impacts to some people who felt they had nobody to help or talk too. We understand how difficult it is to witness the deterioration of the physical & mental abilities in an ageing parent, grandparent or other loved one. This is especially true when we remember the days when we, ourselves, were the recipients of their care. At Helping Hands we hear many client family members discuss with us the transitional challenges they experience when the responsibility for their elderly parents’ mental stimulation and comfort becomes one of their integral roles. | Hippo Health Care will provide a range of services for service users and provide personal care as a regulated activity and support to adults aged 18-65 and the elderly (above 65) living in the Cardiff and Vale local authority areas. Hippo Health Care will be; •Providing care, active support and assistance to remain at home, while promoting and encouraging independence, maximizing and valuing everyone’s potential • Personal care needs – prompting and/or assistance with washing, undressing/dressing, help going to bed, get up and out of bed, bed doing etc… • Meal preparation – prompting and/or assisting with meal/drink selection, preparation and consumption • Assistance with household tasks- cleaning, dusting, laundry, shopping (depending on service user) • Support to access and/or participate in social/community activities – attending appointments, shopping, dining out, sitting service… • Companionship or sitting The service we provide is available by agreement, assessment outcome and is presented in each individual care/support plan: • 7 days a week, 365 days of the year Across a range of times to suit individual need, from half an hour to 24 hours a day (as specified in needs assessment)
