I have worked with children and young adults with special needs for 32 years. Over the years I have been a respite carer for Barnet social services, a special needs nanny, a special needs TA and I also worked as a mainstream nanny and nursery nurse. I have qualifications such as NNEB, City and Guilds in Learning support and more recently have completed a BA in Special Educational needs and inclusive practice. Next year o aim to start my PGCE equivalent qualification to work as a teacher in a special needs school. I love working with children, especially those with Special needs, as no two days are the same. Also to be part of a team, that includes the child/young adult and their family to enable them to work towards achieving their goals is truly something special. I feel that they have taught me the true meaning of courage and determination over the years too as everyday they strive towards their goals.Tbeir love of life is inspiring. Which in turn makes me feel lucky to have a job that mostly doesn't feel like a job.
