I am a leading special needs professional with over 3 years of professional experience working at a special needs school in Camden. I have worked with children of various ages from reception up to and including year 6 and 7. Over the years I have undergone several weekly trainings focusing on understanding and working with autism as well as, trainings including medication administration, positive behaviour support, health and hygiene, reading and engagement and many more. My approach to all children and young adults is based purely on patience, mutual understanding and building of trust. I feel that I am to build a special connection with every child that I work with, which allows us to build a mutually respectful relationship. When working with children with special needs, I believe it is important to maintain maximum communication with minimal language therefore I tend to use symbols and makaton where possible.
