I have experience of working in many different types of environments which has enabled me to gain excellent and transferable skills and I am currently studying part-time to qualify as a counsellor. This enhances my natural ability to empathise. I am good at using my initiative and comfortable providing flexible and needs driven support. I have a very positive and strong disposition and my attitude is very much one of 'can do'. I am calm, thoughtful and understanding and I am a very good listener. I have my own personal experience of the care and domestic needs of the elderly in that my Father had multiple issues for up to 10 years before he passed away, one of which was Parkinsons. My Mother was diagnosed a few years ago with vascular dementia which can be challenging but her quality of life in the here and now is the most important thing for us/her family. I understand the importance of confidentiality and as I am in placement as a student counsellor, I have a current enhanced DBS.
