I have been a care for my mum who had dementia for a number of years. She needed company to engage and stimulate her. I would look at things she enjoyed through out her life and focus on those to give stimulation and happiness. I went on to work with families that had recent diagnosis of dementia. Stimulation and support was needed for the elderly person and a break for the carer. Respecting them through out was the main aim. With dementia they still have love to give. So the understanding of patience, listening and following the persons lead is important. I am not able to offer personal care
