If you want your older person to have a stimulating few hours exploring their past with a memory book, drawing or stitching then I can help. It's a kind of occupational therapy, and fun and beneficial too.I am a friendly semi-retired historian who has worked since 1980 with elderly women who want to talk about their life history. In some cases this has been in reminiscence groups, in care homes, and hospices. Sometimes small publications and exhibitions have been the outcome . I'm also a very practical and helpful companion. My elderly mum (90), was in my care in her home, before she went into residential care. What did I do fro her? Giving companionship, cooking, taking her on fun outings, dealing with hospitals, giving her twice-daily insulin injections, and helping her move towards accepting a care home was best for her. As for my personal life: I'm in my sixties, live in Marsden, skive yoga classes and like making textile art with old photos.
