My name is Abbie and I am a Care Assistant in a residential care home in Co. Londonderry. I have recently left school and decided not to go to university this year as I would like to work and get more experience in the health and social care sector. Currently, I am working part time so I have plenty of time to better my skills and I would enjoy doing this in different settings to a care home such as an individuals home or supported living. I have been working as a carer for over a year and enjoy it a lot. I have attained my Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social care so I’ve a good knowledge about empowering individuals and making them feel happy and comfortable. I have experience of working with individuals with different types of Dementia, Parkinson’s, catheter bags, mental health issues, hearing/ sight impairments and mobility issues.
