Child development, play and education are topics that I want to continually build on in life. My intention is to to learn as much as I can so that I can become the best practitioner I can be. In the past few years I have studied towards and completed two qualifications in relation to childcare. They both had a heavy emphasis on child development, safeguarding of children and the holistic approach to making sure every child’s need is met, no matter what external or internal influences the child faces. As my education was based in Scotland, a lot of what I learnt was based around Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) and Scotland Acts. Now, I want to expand my knowledge, become aware of the difference between the two care systems and learn how to be a successful educator in England as well. For over three years I have worked hands-on in the childcare sector and have come across many different scenarios. Through advice from colleagues, managers, assessors, and trial and error, I have developed a sound basis of experience I would be able to put forth in any work expected of me.
