I have experience of working with children in a summer camp last summer, as well as volunteering in local primary schools as part of an art project over the past few years. As an Activity leader at the summer camp I aided ages 7 to 16 with team building, problem solving activities and developed a safe environment for the young people to complete roped activities. I am a very approachable person which meant I was able to develop a friendly relationship with the young people during a session. As for the art projects, I work with a local artost Lindsay Chalford-Brown. She develops the concept of an art project in a school every year and I help to facilitate that. We work with year 5s and 6s. The kids do all the work really, I just show them how to do it! Teaching kids a new creative skill has been really fulfilling, as the projects are during SATs so it is a great creative release from exams. These projects are crucial in expressing creativity for the young people, and it is so fulfilling being able to facilitate this.
