We're looking for a tutor / therapy assistant / carer to assist our two homeschooled kids (April, 8, and Oscar, 5) at our home in Wynnum West - most likely while one or both of us parents work from home. Both kids have autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Our proposed days and times are Wednesdays from 8am to 1pm, however we have some flexibility with the time. The role would involve helping them with their schoolwork, depending on your area e.g. reading, writing, maths, science, history. You could also potentially assist them with their OT or speech homework (as directed by their therapist). Other activities would include reading books, playing games, encouraging and assisting them to clean up their messes and also assisting our 5 year old with toilet training, and changing his cloth nappy where necessary. The kids are mostly happy, however you would need to maintain a calm demeanour and help them to calm down if they got upset or anxious, and help to resolve any disagreements. You might be an allied health or education student or graduate. Ideally you would be experienced with working with kids with ASD, have a Working with Children check, be respectful and caring towards children, be a non-smoker and have your own transport. If you feel you would be perfect for this role, please send us a message.

We're looking for someone who will look after our two homeschooled kids (7, 9) at our home in Wynnum West -- most likely while one or both of us parents work from home. Both kids have autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Our proposed days and times are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8am to 1pm, however we have some flexibility. The role would involve playing with the kids, preparing simple snacks, guiding them to complete their homeschool work, encouraging and assisting them to clean up their messes, and also changing our 5 year old's cloth nappy (as he is experiencing anxiety around toilet training). There also may be some light housework, such as hanging out the washing or sweeping the floor. The kids are mostly happy, however you would need to maintain a calm demeanour and help them to calm down if they got upset or anxious, and help to resolve any disagreements. Ideally, you would be experienced with working with kids with ASD (or open to learning), have a Working with Children check, be respectful and caring towards children, a non-smoker, have your own transport and live within a reasonable distance from us. If you are interested to discuss this role further, please send us a message. We look forward to hearing from you.
