Although I was initially interested in Veterinary Medicine, I have found my niche in the pet sitting business. Many pet owners board their animals in daycare, veterinary hospitals, or at the groomer's. Boarding is an impersonal method of temporarily leaving your animal in another's care; Tender loving care is spread thin due to the number of animals in the provider's care. They are in a relatively small crate for the duration.

My job is to not just make sure everyone is fed and let out to use the bathroom; it is to ensure that pets are the least stressed possible while their human is away. I personalize my care by easily figuring out whether the animal prefers cuddling, exercise, or a mix of the two. Unless an animal doesn't feel like it, I make it a rule to sleep with them so there's a minimal amount of separation anxiety or night anxiety. I involve the animals in whatever I need to do during the day, just like their regular human. Everything I do while I stay with animals is decided by whether it would compromise the quality of their care.
