Member Care Team Lead

The Member Care Team Lead is responsible for the daily management and leadership of the editorial team. This position will develop, audit, and review service performance and trend reports for the Member Care department, as well as develop and implement actions or remedies as necessary to ensure operational excellence. This leader will help maintain quality and consistency and ensure editorial excellence. Additionally, this position will attract, select, and retain high caliber, diverse talent and will be able to successfully achieve or exceed business goals and build a cohesive remote team that will consistently meet service level agreements.

The Member Care Team Leader will continually develop, train, and coach staff on key performance measures to ensure cost efficiencies and ensure our high-quality standards are met. This leader will also analyze individual and team performance on a regular basis and provide candid and timely developmental feedback; monitor training plans; and ensure training needs are met. This person will also collect, analyze, and report on operations information in support of process, systems and policy redesign.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage external team of editors comprised mainly of stay at home moms
  • Manage daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly editorial  stats and reporting
  • Manage scheduling, time sheets, and human resource related issues
  • Lead process/technology projects to improve quality and reduce costs
  • Responsible for achieving all key performance measures related to the editorial review process of member generated content
  • Communicate effectively on the phone and via email with peers, staff and senior leadership on day-to-day issues concerning employees and work issues
  • Work on special projects, assignments and tasks as assigned
  • Train and develop employees

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a professional business environment with skills in management; experience managing a remote team a plus

We're looking for a Director of Public Relations to oversee all PR activities, build the Care.com brand, and lay out long-term plans for a growing startup. We're a company that's grown quickly and become the leader of its field, and we're looking to build our public relations efforts, as well. You must have a proven track record of success, preferably have worked in a startup or dotcom environment, and be ready to take on the challenges of a fast-paced culture.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop media relationships across a wide spectrum of outlets from national reporters to mommy bloggers
  • Secure regular press coverage for Care.com and develop long-term relationships with media outlets and journalists
  • Assist with brand building and spokesperson development

Systems Administrator

We are looking for a Systems Administrator to join our team to support and manage our hosted production environment and office IT environment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Support, scale and tune hosted Linux production website environment with on-call 24x7 rotation.
  • Manage corporate IT environment consisting of Windows XP/Vista and Mac OS X clients, Windows 2003 and RedHat and CentOS servers.
  • Provide frontline helpdesk support.
  • Maintain and develop IT policies and procedures.
  • Help plan upgrades and implementation of new IT services and capacity.
  • Assisting with budgeting and managing procurement for company-wide IT purchasing.

 

Requirements

  • Experience with Linux is a must - Red Hat Enterprise and CentOS.
  • Experience with following is strongly preferred: MySQL (database administration/backups, replication), Apache, JBoss, Tomcat, scripting and automation, networking (firewalls, loadbalancers, etc), and other technologies such as caching, monitoring, performance tuning.
  • Experience managing a production environment, preferably an online consumer property.
  • Experience with MS Windows 2003 Server, Windows XP/Vista and Mac OS X.
  • Experience with building, maintaining and troubleshooting services like anti-virus, Exchange 2003, file/print services, Group Policies, Active Directory, Backup Exec, database services, scripting.
  • Clear understanding of the following: Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, RAID, VPN/IPSec, IAS/RADIUS, VLANs, routing, security concepts.
  • Experience working in small, fast-paced, environment (startup experience preferred).
  • A strong work ethic and analytical skills combined with the capability to learn quickly.
  • BA/BS Required, preferably a technical degree.

Senior Database Developer

Care.com is seeking a highly motivated individual to assume responsibility for all facets of data/database management, reporting, and analysis. The ideal individual will have deep technical knowledge of database design (especially databases optimized for reporting), hands-on experience with SQL and reporting server platforms, and experience in data analysis. This is a senior contributor position and requires a Masters or foreign equivalent in Comp Science, Engineering or related field.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of the schema of the reporting database and the ETL process that populates the reporting database with production data.
  • Ownership of the selection, implementation and configuration of a reporting server platform.
  • Designing and delivering the specific reports (including all SQL and stored procedure work) that meet the needs of the business.
  • Defining and owning a data dictionary to ensure consistency across all reports used by the business.
  • Analyzing reporting data to help interpret results and drive the goals of the business.

 

Requirements:

  • Deep technical knowledge of databases, database design, and SQL. Hands-on experience with MySQL is a plus.
  • Experience with ETL processes and the design of offline reporting databases (i.e. data marts and data warehouses).
  • Ability to work with business owners to understand reporting requirements and business needs. Ability to understand and help define the metrics required to meet business goals.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the reporting needs of an online business, including familiarity with data in web logs and third-party reporting applications (Google Analytics, Google Adwords, etc.)
  • Ability to interpret data and reporting results and communicate the impact of these results on the decision-making process of the organization.
  • Experience with MySQL performance tuning and configuration is a plus.
  • Experience working with a reporting server platform. Hands-on experience with Jasper Server/iReport is a plus.
  • Ability to succeed in a team-oriented, fast-paced, startup environment.

Principal Software QA Engineer

The ideal candidate will develop and implement comprehensive test strategies to ensure adequate quality standards, risk assessment, processes and controls within the organization. Testing will focus on both front-office and back-office systems. Experience with Linux, Windows, Java technologies, and SQL is a must. This position requires a Masters or foreign equivalent in Comp Science, Engineering or related field.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Review test cases to ensure adequate coverage in critical modules.
  • Work with project management to determine test schedules.
  • Design templates for test plans, test case and test reports.
  • Configure the test environment and install application software and tools.
  • Design and execute tests which involve in functional, GUI, integration, automation, database, and regression testing.
  • Mentor other less experienced members of the team in regards to testing approach, system functionality, and testing process.
  • Coordinate test case status and report results to management.
  • Collaborate with product development groups during the software development lifecycle in order to evaluate and monitor the controls, gates and quality of software products.

Principal Software Engineer

The Principal Software Engineer works with systems analysts, engineers, programmers, product managers, quality assurance engineers, and others to design and develop the Care.com online system using Java, Struts, Hibernate 3.x, Apache, Jboss 4.x, Junit, and MySQL 5. Candidate must have experience in system architecture and taking a software product from requirements to delivery. Candidate must have the ability to deliver a top quality product in a timely fashion in a fast-paced environment. A Masters degree or equivalent degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related quantitative field is required. This position requires significant experience in building large scale systems with Java technologies for the Internet.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Building significant new product functionality for the Care.com website, including integration with third-party systems
  • Supporting, managing and participating in the engineering review processes, including the development of technical documentation and running design review meetings
  • Analyzing requirements/design specifications and collaborating with Product Management on recommended requirements and design concepts as well as system security requirements and technical architecture requirements
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining required documents such as a requirements traceability matrix and integrated master schedule
  • Troubleshooting existing systems in support of ongoing business activities
  • Designing and implementing systems to meet strict scalability and performance standards
  • Maintaining awareness of IT best practices, technology trends and emerging technologies
