I have always had a passion for working with kids, watching them grow and develop gives me an immense sense of happiness and pride like nothing else. I have worked with children in a variety of situations which I feel gives me an edge and the ability to adapt to anything. Most recently I have been in a part-time after school nannying position with one amazing family in Australia for the past 2+ years, and am heartbroken to have had to leave that position upon my return to New Zealand. I miss the children dearly, who are now 4 and 6, but feel so lucky to have been able to help them grow and enjoy them for the past few years. The Grimley family have been kind enough to provide me with a great reference. In this position, I performed all the after school duties such as picking them up from kindergarten and school, driving them to any after school activities and assisting where necessary, making afternoon tea, using my previous primary school tutoring experience to help with any homework, playing make-believe, making up shows and performances, playing with toys, building lego, doing arts and crafts, making puzzles, playing sports in the garden, going to the park, library or the swimming pool, preparing and cooking a delicious nutritious dinner, completing any housework or chores that needed to be done, assisting the kids with bathtime, reading them lots of stories and singing lullabys, and finally putting them into bed. Furthermore, I occasionally looked after the kids over a weekend or during the school holidays in which time I enjoyed taking the kids to do activities such as on bush walks, to the beach, to the museum and the art gallery, to playcenters and playgrounds, on scooter and bike rides, ice skating, to the movies, to the library, the zoo or the botanical gardens to name a few! We just love exploring and trying new things together, but most importantly I had just as much fun as the kids did. Seeing their little faces full of joy at all the activities and experiences that we did together was the most fulfilling feeling. Prior to this, I was a childrens rugby coach for 2 years, coaching ages 2-7 in a range of classes to combine my love of fun and being outdoors with my love of children. I also obtained a childrens first aid certificate whilst in this position. I also worked as a learn-to-swim teacher for ages 4 months - 14 years and this position taught me so much, as the wide variety of ages constantly challenged me and gave me the skills to communicate and understand a child of any age. Furthermore I obtained a children's CPR certificate in this position. This is a lot of information to take in so I hope you will feel free to ask me any questions you may have!
