I have 3 years experience tutoring Junior Certificate students in Science and Mathematics as well as Leaving Cert students in Biology and Chemistry. As a tutor, I can testify to the intellectual potential universal to all students. This potential is often untapped and dormant but nevertheless present. With a structured plan, rigorous practice, and plenty of encouragement, I was able to direct my tutees to realize that their presumed weakness in a subject was exactly that – a presumption. Many of my students have come from a fail/low grade in their mock exams to a B/A grade in the final exam sitting. A recent Neuroscience graduate (Trinity College Dublin), I am looking to teach and help students to increase their understanding, performance, and academic achievement. Having studied neuroscience, I have considerable understanding of the neural processes and mechanisms underlying learning and memory. Given this scientific perspective, I have knowledge about effective strategies, techniques and habits that promote optimal learning and knowledge retention.
