Experienced graduate who has worked in an after-school and school setting with mainstream and special needs students. Caring, assertive, confident and organised. Currently seeking an SNA position within a mainstream or specialised school in advance of Masters in Education. Experienced working with conditions including Autism, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Asperger’s and Down Syndrome as well as other learning and physical disabilities. Empathetic and sensitive to student’s needs and competent in developing relationships with children, staff and parents. Knowledge of Aistear and Siolta principles as well as the National Curriculum and how these relate to special needs children. Able to safely manage challenging behaviour and works well in 1:1 situations. Skilled in organising extra-curricular physical and creative activities for students. Experienced in supporting students with personal care, mealtimes, and social situations. Passionate about promoting each individual student’s development, independence and inclusion.
