Recently I had the privilege of caring for my elderly great uncle during his final years. He had no children and most family was very far.
During that time I realized the important of companionship. Having someone to talk to or to help with the simple little tasks around the house was so important and beneficial to his happiness. We had homecare to help and nurses to check in, but he lacked a friend. I committed myself to making sure he was never lonely. We had lunch. We went for drives around town, watched bad tv shows. Talked about everything. I made sure his towels were fresh, he had food in the fridge, the batteries were full in the smoke alarm. Anything he needed.
I’m hoping to be that kind of help for someone else now that I am a stay at home mom with spare time to share.

You need a lot patience to work with seniors and I believe you have to really like it. Caring for someone is a good thing and it's really all about giving. I have also done a 1 year job in Pakistan and there was almost 30 elderly people living there. I looked after their food and all their other needs. I also shared their feelings and gave medicine at times. I would share in their sadness and would get experiences of life from their good and bad.
When I got a job working in senior care it helped me decide that was where I wanted to spend my career. I wish and love to give my time to these people for relief of their difficulties.
