Although I do not have any experience in Senior Care specifically, I do have a plethora of experience in customer service positions. I have also had a very personal experience caring for a family member. Years ago, my mother contracted C.Difficile. There was 6 weeks of hospitalization, including ICU care. Upon discharge, I was the primary caregiver. For three months, I had to help with meal preparation, bathing, medication schedules, and managing the household.
I have always really enjoyed interacting with seniors. The stories, the cute little quirks, and the ridiculously good feeling you get when you help someone. I enjoy listening to stories, even if I have heard them a time or two before, and even the sass I find pretty humorous. Our seniors deserve someone who is going to enjoy being around them. I know it's hard enough for some seniors to come to terms with the fact that they need help, so why not make it as pleasant as possible?

I have extensive experience in taking care of the elderly, as I have volunteered in the hospice care at KGH, cared for many sick and elderly individuals in nursing homes as volunteer work out of our Leadership Excellence Committee, and for the last three years lived with my elderly, physically disabled grandma. She has type two diabetes and dementia, and I have helped care for her by administering medication, cooking low sugar meals, baking treats occasionally to cheer her up, helping her up and down the stairs, helping her bathe, helping her dress, helping her communicate through phone and email, taking her on outings every week on her electric tricycle for assistance and movement, walking with her with stability poles to the grocery store, gardening and taking care of all yardwork, in addition to completing all household chores such as laundry, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dishes, and dusting. I understand from personal experience that having a relationship with an elderly person is something to be cherished and held with dignity.
