| Growing up, my mother had a home daycare so I have always been around children of all ages. As I got older and into my teen years, I spent a lot of time during the weeks and especially over the summer with my mom and doing a lot of things with the kids such as taking them to the park or library, taking them swimming, helping with lunch and snack times, and organizing games and crafts to do with the kids. Through my teens and into my early twenties, I did occasional babysitting for family friends or people in the neighbourhood. During the summer of 2011, I acted as a full-time nanny for between two and four children (every other week, two of the children were elsewhere.) My time with those kids was wonderful. My duties through the day were to take the kids to their swimming lesson and make them lunch and a mid-afternoon snack. I was also responsible in organizing activities for us to do whether it be spending the day at the pool and supervising their play, or going on bike rides and playing in the park. On rainy days or the days it was too hot to be outside, I organized games to play in the house, crafts to do with the children such as making jewellery, and even baking fun treats like cookies. More recently, I acted as a part-time nanny to two wonderful boys. When I started with them, the youngest was eighteen months and the other was four years old. My duties included picking them up from daycare and school, taking them to the park or general playtime inside and outside, preparing dinner, bath time, preparing the children for bed, and sometimes reading them stories and putting them to bed for the night. I consider myself to be a very kind, compassionate, and loving person. I easily form bonds with children and care for them deeply which, I think, only makes my experience as a caregiver and their experience with me that much better.
