| I have been working with children since I was 11 years old. I taught Sunday school at my church for 3 years and worked in a nursery for 2 years. I have been babysitting regularly since I was 13 years old. I have many families who's children I have cared for throughout their lives. I spent 6 months in france working as an au pair. I had to manage the daily routine of 2 children, aged 3 and 5, and was responsible for the housekeeping involving the children (tidy their bedrooms, laundry make their beds, cook and clean up from meals) I was also tasked with the older child's homework help, and their bath and bed time routines. Growing up I always had a nanny or a babysitter looking after me, so when I babysit for a family I draw from experiences from my childhood. I had a few nanny's who would just give me a colouring book or turn on the tv and not actively engage me. When I look after children I first and foremost find out the children's interests and then I try and plan fun activities for when I am with them. I am all for watching a movie or a tv show every once and a while... But not all the time. I like to get kids up and moving, doing things outdoors instead of sitting in front of the tv or computer.

Prior to this, I worked for four years as a camp counsellor for Girl Guides Canada. When working, I was in charge of every aspect of child care for groups of up to 12 children. I was also in charge of supervising up to 7 staff members and making sure that every child is being cared for effectively. The children stay overnight for a week at a time and so the responsibilities extend overnight.
