| I've been nannying for the past 20 years. I've cared for children with Type 1 diabetes, with high medical needs requiring the use of an epi pen, Autism, ADHD, other mental health diagnosis as well as growing up alongside 2 friends who had cerebral palsy & I'd often help them at school. I've also helped a couple of friends over the years who were born deaf & have hearing aids fitted. I've also cared for older children who have had incontinence problems as well. I have 4 of my own children. My son has been diagnosed with Level 2 ASD & my daughter has been diagnosed with Level 1 ASD & ADHD. I am well aware of the additional care needs that being a special needs parent incorporates & the toll it can take on you. I've been actively engaged in learning both speech techniques and occupational therapy activities to assist special needs children in my care since my son was diagnosed almost 7 years ago. I always approach my tasks with enthusiasm and a desire to do them well. I take pride in my work, have strong knowledge of autism and am passionate about enabling students to achieve their personal and educational potential so as to be valued contributors to family and community life. Each of these kids has their own strengths, abilities and interests and they all deserve to reach their full potential. It is really fulfilling being around these amazing kids and giving them the support they need, building their strengths and skills to promote development.
