I have been working as a support worker in home-care base and daycare centre which service users who have both learning and physical disabilities for 1 year. It has really helped me to decide that I want a career in helping others. Usually, I need to be a good communicator and have the ability to support the service users to develop their social and interpersonal skills. I will work as part of a team promoting independence social inclusion and how to improve the quality of life of our service users. Also, I enrolled in the trust trainee scheme in my university life and find there is a great learning experience. It gave an opportunity for me to be a reliable and compassionate person and able to build strong working relationships with my service users, so they can trust me and feel comfortable working with me. After being 1-year support worker, although fulfilling working in daycare with complex needs people can be challenging, it is a very rewarding experience and daily care work is a brilliant job for people person who someone like me. These experiences reinforced my belief that a compassionate, non-judgmental presence can be transformative. The more I learn, the more value I can contribute to the team and company.

I had spent some time in the dementia ward in Queanbeyan at George Forbes house where are used to care old lady who was like she reverted backwards in age to youth everyday she believes she had someone coming to visit her her family and always asked how she looked and if her hair was nice after she finished brushing it and as always I responded absolutely gorgeous the poor little old lady everyday the same thing never did she have a visitor come to visit her but every day she was so excited like a kid in a lolly shop stole my heart and took my breath away pictures way I actually take heartfelt enjoyment out of old aged care and would prefer this type of work over all the jobs so rewarding when they make you feel like a bunch of mash potato inside
