Average hours a week are 12 - 15, however these can increase with specific demands. A few years experience would help as we need assistance in the areas of general home duties and housekeeping with companionship and monitoring for an 82 year old with cognitive decline. Dad is an intelligent and switched-on 82 year old man, who worked in a corporate field for the majority of his working life. He is kind, quiet, thoughtful, and insightful. Dad is able to handle all of his own personal care, but displays some signs of confusion. His need for support in the evenings is minimal at the moment. However, growing as he recently lost his loving wife of 70 years, who was supporting him previously. The family would like to engage carers who will: • be a carer without making Dad feel like you are a carer; treat Dad as you would any other person • build a natural relationship with Dad (and the family) slowly over time, he is a very private man • provide consistent, long-term support • know when to discreetly keep an eye on Dad and when to become involved, in order to preserve Dad’s independence and dignity • have maturity for their years and be calmly confident and flexible Please keep in mind that you will not be introduced to Dad as a carer; we will determine a narrative that is appropriate. A natural connection built slowly over time with Dad will be paramount. This job would suit someone who is happy to complete some household duties and when done pursue their own study, work or hobbies in the evenings whilst keeping an eye on Dad and supporting his needs, when required. Support require from around 8pm - midnight, with some overnight stays at an agreed overnight rate. There is flexibility.

My Father lives with my family & I in a seperate part of the house. We are looking for Thursday & Friday's - 0900am until 0500pm. 0900 - arrive/ wake up/ tablets/ wash down or shower/ get dressed/ coffee & breakfast. Once this has happened it a day of keeping my Father company, preparing him snacks, lunch, coffee & tea, giving him his medicine 3 times a day, keeping his area tidy, doing his washing. Dinner for him will vary between you and us. On Friday's he will need help going to the physic - very close. My Father is a gentle man and has had carers for past 4 years. He is still switched on mentally but a little slow physically. He wears pull-ups and has a walker which he can mange by himself most of the time. He loves art, politics, history, culture.
