This place doesn't know what's up or is down. When I went to apply, I was told they weren't hiring. The following morning I receoived a phone call from their director B****, asking me to come back and fill out an application, which I reluctantly did. I say reluctantly because both times I went there the place was messy, the residents wore dirty, food-stained clothing and their faces still had traces of food. The staff members sat around watching television and basically ignored the residents whom all (or so I was told) suffered from varying stages of dementia. The facility reeked very strongly of stale urine, and it was difficult to breathe comfortably due to the poor air quality. Despite the 90+ degree weather outside, there were no fans or air conditioners running the two times I was there. Also, the chair at the dining table that I was invited to sit at was very unstable, which was apparently one that the residents also use, posing a potential safety hazard. B**** is a very crass, loud and unprofessional woman with no manners or social graces that I could observe during my "interview" (and I use that term loosely) with her. She stated to me that she had just let an employee go who hadn't passed a background check, and she admitted to hiring her and having her around the residents before one was even conducted on the employee. Hence, why she had called me. We discussed my availability of hours that I could work, and I disclosed up front with her that I needed a schedule that could allow me to be home by 6am or arriving by 8am, in order that I could ensure that my daughter who is disabled makes it safely to school. She said that she was fine with my availability and would like to move forward with conducting a background check on me. Today I was offered the position. She wanted me to work two days orientation, starting tomorrow (Tuesday). I stated that due to prior commitments, I could work Wednesday but not tomorrow. She said "fine" and disconnected the call. Twenty minutes later I received a voicemail from her telling me that she was "rescinding her offer of employment because (my) 'availability' didn't meet her needs". This is a very petty, mentally unstable woman with no interpersonal or communication skills. It's no wonder she can't keep help, and the staff she does have is lazy with potentially unknown criminal backgrounds. She apparently has neither the discipline, inclination, or the brain cells to effectively manage her staff, much less the residents who have the misfortune of living there. She hires people without benefit of criminal backgrounds checks, and conveniently "forgets" things as it suits her "needs". No, this review isn't about the rescinding of her employment offer. I am not so desperate to find a job, that I will blindly turn my eye to work "anywhere", just to have a paycheck. I've been a CNA for 14 years, and the Casa Contenta "facility" definitely scores a zero in my opinion.
