I offer my 24 years of experience in a fun, creative and effective way.
-Face to Face Lessons: Individual or group sessions at your place, my place or a cafe.
These weekly sessions are scheduled to your convenience in NYC, Hoboken or Jersey City.
-Online Lessons: These individual and group sessions are scheduled to your convenience anywhere you have Skype access. I use a board to write all the necessary information. Students and I exchange via email homework or any material.
-Spanishpots: These monthly 3-hour long potluck gatherings take place in Newburgh or Beacon NY and in Jersey city or Hoboken NJ. These innovative fun events are a great complement to the weekly lessons since they offer an authentic context to apply individual learning. All my adult students are strongly encouraged to come and they are also open to other participants by invitation.
I believe everybody regardless of age and experience can learn if I respect the student's needs, pace and learning style, and if I tap into his or her interests, likes and strengths. Covering a comprehensive approach that includes speaking, reading, writing and listening is necessary since these four areas of knowledge feed off each other. Knowledge, fun, flexibility, resourcefulness, creativity together with the specific teaching strategies and attitudes will guarantee an effective pleasant experience for the student.
Children lessons include a multimodality approach that places play at the heart of it. Movement, singing, visual arts activities, drama are all tools that are combined to have students learn all language skills.
In addition, I work on preparation for Spanish tests at the elementary, high school, college level and professional levels.
I am Carina, native from Argentina. I hold a teachers' certification from Lenguas Vivas (Argentina, 1988) and a Master's in Education from Lesley College ( Mass, USA, 1992).
I lived 27 years in Argentina and since 1996 I live in the US. I travel to Argentina once or twice every year to get the latest updates of the language

Carina is a caring, methodical, knowledgable teacher.
She is a good listener and speaks clearly.
During our classes, we have conversations about art, science, history, politics, literature, and religion--among other things. Carina is well informed and well read and our conversations are always interesting.
Carina is knowledgeable about Spanish grammar and explains it well.
The only complaint I have about our weekly two hour class is that it goes by too quickly.
