My name is Ri and I am currently employed as the second in charge of a childcare facility, where I organise and run before and afterschool care as well as holiday programmes for children aged 5 to 13. I have worked here since the beginning of 2021 and enjoy the work and my team immensely. Here, I am responsible for staff and child wellbeing. I have worked extensively will all ages that we provide care for, as well as children with behavioural/learning needs (ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, etc). I develop strategies for specific children and their learning/behavioural needs alongside their parents and our staff. I am comfortable with discussing difficult topics and navigating difficult behaviours with children and caregivers alike. I have also worked as a teacher aide at a public high school and a martial arts instructor for children. I dealt with similar behavioral and learning difficulties in these roles, as well as additional challenges like teaching specific skills. I would love to take up additional work as a nanny and/or babysitter to receive an additional income to fund my studies. I am currently a fourth-year Law and Geography conjoint student at Victoria University of Wellington.
