| Hello! My name is Heather and I am currently looking for work as an English tutor. I am pursuing an MFA in Creative Writing, and am an all-around lover of the English language. I also have a background in music, having completed a BA in violin. I am especially interested in teaching non-native speakers how to speak and write in English. My background in music makes me especially sensitive to the way languages are acquired. I have worked extensively with children. Currently, I work as a violin teacher (for adults and children) and as a caregiver for an autistic child. I work seasonally as a tour director for EF tours, where I give educational tours to high school groups. A particular emphasis of these tours is French language acquisition. I am fluent in French and can speak Spanish conversationally. I have designed and implemented many music programs for children ages 0-6. I have worked in community centers and daycares across Montreal, and have most recently worked as a music teacher at the Preville Fine Arts center. There, I was director of the day camp program for 5-6 year old's.

I am a Master's student at Concordia who just recently moved to Montréal. I am a recently qualified elementary school teacher from Ontario. My teachable is French as a second language, and I have experience teaching in a French immersion classroom. I have worked at a tutoring centre for the past three summers, I can send you a reference letter by next week if needed. All of my classes are evening classes unfortunately, so I am unsure if my schedule would be fit for this position. However, I have all day Tuesday and Friday off. Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday I have class from 6pm until late in the evening. I also have experience developing French reading programs, social studies units/lesson plans, as well as administrative work in a tutoring centre.
