Melissa Miller has supported children and adults with disabilities for over nine years, seven of which was spent as a behavioural therapist working with children on the Autism Spectrum both in the classroom and in the home. She has a breadth of experience as both a behavioural therapist and an educational assistant with a unique and practical perspective. She has been an active member of the Bow Valley College Educational Assistant Advisory board since 2013 and has presented for the Calgary Board of Education, Grant MacEwan University Education Assistant Conference, The Greater Edmonton Teachers Association, the Central Alberta Regional as well as Calgary Regional Consortium, and Bow Valley College alumni events. 6 years working as a humanities assistant for grades 7-12. Experience with exam prep, PATS and diplomas. Supporting students who have been diagnosed with a learning disability (ADD, ADHD) or Autism Spectrum Disorder in a specialized setting. Encouraging self expression, independence, accountability and confidence while maintaining a organized and supportive classroom.
