About Julia

24 years old
I am a second year Science student at the University of British Columbia. I am also a tutor for Foundations of Analytic and Quantitative Reasoning course at SFU for the IAUPP program. I peer tutored Chemistry 11 for 1.5 years in classroom settings and privately tutored Chemistry 11 since 2017 and Chemistry 12 since 2018. I have also taught private English lessons in Fukuoka, Japan and worked in a kumon within the mathematics and english department in Fukuoka, Japan. My teaching methods are personalized for every individual student, based on their weakness and strengths in learning. I have used analytical and visual explanations in order to expand the students' perspective to more than one dimension. I use real-life examples to not only allow students to make connections with with previous knowledge and logic, but to also allow them to gain skill to apply new information into the real world. I aim to teach students that in fact, learning is very simple, as long as you train your brain to build connections with previous and future information.
