My goal in applying for this job is to gain experience in the field of work I'm most passionate about. I am never happier than when I am doing respite care work or volunteering, and it is this enthusiasm that I think plays a big role in my proficiency as well as willingness to improve. I've provided and continue to provide respite care to several families with elementary and teen aged autistic children which includes addressing personal, hygiene, and dietary needs. -Levels 1-4 in American Sign Language Metro Continuing Education -I am taking my Special Needs Teachers Assistant Course at Macewan in the fall of 2018. -I participated in a two-week volunteer trip to India in the summer of 2015 with a care and community volunteer group which involved work in a school. -I volunteer in a special education classroom at a School twice a week in which I help care for and teach autistic elementary aged children. I, myself, have ASD with little to no communication impairments (therefore, it will not interfere with interactions in work) and I believe that this aids me in understanding some of the individual needs of children/adults with autism.
