Professional Caregiver specializing in Dementia/Alzheimer. I have been working as a Professional Private Caregiver for the last six years with Seniors/Elderly diagnosed with Dementia/Alzheimer. My working style is based on the Person Centered Care and Bio-Psycho-Social Model. I work with the person first and the illness second. I use Reminiscence as a tool to create a relationship, and to know who the person was prior to her/his diagnoses. This allows me to develop a trust relationship and bring the person out of isolation by sharing their past and their accomplishments as well as their anecdotes. The knowledge I accumulate through Reminiscence is an essential part of my work as it can be transferred in time of crisis, agitation and extreme confusion through the day especially during the Sun-Downing part of the day.
