I have well over ten years of experience in child care, both one on one, and in a multi child setting. I am the eldest sister of three, and I used to help my mother run her home based daycare.
During my time, I helped manage, entertain, and keep a schedule for children ranging in ages from just a few months old, all the way up to twelve years of age. I helped teach effective communication during meltdowns, and how to avoid melt downs for future instances. I helped enforce household rules for all of the children, and gave out negative consequences in line with the ages of each child. I also helped prepare healthy snacks on a schedule, and helped keep the nap time schedule for the younger kids, while also keeping the older kids quiet.
I have a preference for “no screens.” This means that, in my care, I would prefer to entertain your children with games, books, singing, going to the park, etc. I believe children should experience the world first hand; making messes, asking questions, not through a screen while sitting on a couch.
