We have been part-time caretaking for my 62-year-old father who was diagnosed with early dementia due to medical complications they are still testing for. One thing we know boosts his mood is social interaction, but consistency is what puts him at ease. We are burnt out from doing a lot of the financial and admin support behind the scenes and work full time. While he is on a waitlist for the public health assisted living housing we are looking for individuals to help him kill time, chat and discover new hobbies. Something he has a hard time doing with myself and my husband because we are associated with "productivity" and "admin" in his mind. He is kind, and gentle, used to be an extrovert, and french is his first language but speaks English well. Ideally we would like people we can contract out to do re-occurring visits to go for coffee, play bocce ball, go for a walk and talk as well as encourage him to open up about what he enjoys.

We are looking to hire 1-3 Caregivers/Assistants for a private residence in South Langley. We are looking for someone who is available for 40 hours weekly. Ideally we would like to find someone who lives locally, and has reliable transportation, as our home is Not accessible by public transportation This is a long term position. Right now the daily duties and tasks are more domestically based, such as Cleaning, Cooking, Preparing Snacks and Meals, Administering Medications, Taking and Recording Blood Pressure/Glucose, Organizing Appointments, Transportation for Appointments, Errands and Shopping.
At the moment the patient is still very independent, and does Not need assistance with any toileting, bathing, or personal grooming *May be required in the future*.
This is currently a Live-Out Care position.
In the future, the right candidate/match could possibly change to a Live-On property position (Private Suite).
