We are mainly looking for Transportation assistance and guidance to and from medical appointments and tests. Includes routine visits for eye/ear doc, dentist, cardiologist, nephrologist or hospital outside the retirement home. Also looking for other help within their apartment to help keep them organized and provide assurance / comfort, companionship, interaction, light shopping / errands or prescription pickup. Bonus if you have your own vehicle or have experience with a ride service. Bonus if you have any basic nursing / medical background. Care Giver should be available for urgent calls. Paying well for any urgent calls requiring quick support within 8 hours notice (Rare). Urgent care clinic 5 minutes away. In very rare cases, help with ER hospital Visits or hospital stays is needed. Our Family will be available via texts, calls or in person throughout these situations. They use onsite retirement home doctor and nursing staff for essential care. Your role is to provide extra support beyond this which may also involve interactions with shoppers drug mart pharmacy, retirement home staff, specialist offices or other service providers. It is also important to help at a basic level keep track of appointments and provide assurance that they are getting good medical attention. We have very good understanding of current conditions, medications and specialist offices, contacts etc. [EXTRA] Additional opportunity if you can use any nursing experience to help in being a medical advocate, navigating the medical system, keep track of doctor appointments and records / paperwork and help keep track of their medical concerns or medications. Create an activity calendar, etc. Care Giver will work with the family and get to know the seniors well and establish trust. Senior has some hearing loss and difficulty understanding thick accents. Senior also can be emotional at times as they are stressed (sometimes crying or sensitive). We are looking for care giver who can speak clearly and loudly and be compassionate, patient and friendly.
