I created a team assisting a 90yr old widower with onset dementia for 26 mths happily enjoy the security of remaining in his long term home, reconnect with community & remained physically fit & healthy. Liaison with family created confidence his day to day living tasks were being taken care of as his condition worsened. Tasks include: Showering, toileting & dressing Making nutritious, tasty meals Light household duties Transport & safe transfer into & out of venues Companionship while sharing hobbies, light exercise, social outings, board games, cards or listening to music, watching TV or movies Organizing memorabilia, creating photo albums Set up social media connections with family & friends Household administration & yard maintenance Shopping Find creative ways to maintain connection with his community, social circles, & family Respecting privacy & confidentiality is paramount. Help provided is importantly directed by the individual. I strive to focus on dignity, autonomy & physical & mental well-being. I am great at what I do because I aim to help older citizens live life to its fullest.
