My passion and fundamental approach to aged care is to ensure that all people are treated specially.
I find most elderly people seek companionship, physical and mental stimulation as well as the importance of socialising with friends and family and I make sure their interests are carried on to the best of their abilities and for as long as possible.
I truly believe that care given in the home is far superior above other options and their quality of life is improved in familiar surroundings of their family home.

My personal experience with aged care comes from looking after my nanna and popa.
My nan was quite elderly and ill when I was around 10. I would get mum to take me shopping every weekend for some ingredients to a new dish me and nan would have spoken about through the week. Probably after seeing it in a magazine together. I would spend all Friday after school making these assuming dishes to take over to my nannas house the next day. The look on her face is something I will never forget.
As I was a little older, around 17 my poppa was diagnosed with dementia. This was hard for the family as he was very much a strong, independent man who was very strong minded. This made it a bit hard having carers for him as he gave everyone a bit of a hard time. As I was already going to see poppa everday it made sense for me to become his carer. Up until a few weeks before my poppa away I would cook, clean, provide basic personal care, organise the house and run errands for my poppa.
