Caring Allied Health Worker Looking to Give Back
|
Whilst in University, I assisted my mother in being full time carer to my Nan. I found this equally as rewarding as my current role, and actually aspired to fall into a field working with older adults not children. Life doesn't always work out the way you envisage! I really enjoyed spending time with my Nan, and helping her to maintain a great quality of life in her later years. We enjoyed spending time together at home, taking trips to the shops and within the community. I helped her with cooking, cleaning and grocery shopping as well as being a companion. She owned a fat cat called Puss, and I too own a cat (not fat) called Puss! I have a dog called Wilma, and am pretty good with most animals as I worked at the RSPCA during Uni as well. I'd love the opportunity to help care for someone, and to spend time making a new friend. My availability is limited as I am still working as a Speech Pathologist, however maybe this will suit someone seeking a carer on the days I am free.
