About

This 3-week engaging, hands-on math workshop series is designed specifically for children ages 4-6 to build a strong foundation in addition and subtraction up through 20. We'll make math fun and concrete by using a variety of visual tools and engaging activities.

What We'll Explore

This workshop series focuses on two key areas:

Adding and Subtracting Up Through 20 with Visuals: Kids will learn to confidently combine and separate quantities up to 20. We'll use a range of helpful tools to make these concepts crystal clear:

Ten Frames: A powerful visual organizer that helps children see numbers in relation to ten, making number sense intuitive.

Dot Images (Subitizing): Quick recognition of small groups of dots without counting, which speeds up mental math.

Manipulatives: Using objects like colorful counters, pattern blocks, and other hands-on materials to physically represent math problems.

Number Lines: A straight-line model to visualize moving forward (addition) and backward (subtraction).

The Special Relationship Between Addition and Subtraction: We'll discover that addition and subtraction are two sides of the same coin! Children will explore fact families (e.g., 3+5=8, 8−5=3) to understand how knowing one helps you solve the other.

Workshop Highlights

Playful & Interactive Activities: Our lessons are delivered through math games, hands-on math tools and visuals to keep young learners excited and focused.

Small Group Instruction: Ensures personalized attention and support for every child's learning pace.

Developing Number Sense: We go beyond rote counting to help children understand the meaning of numbers and how they relate to each other.

Building Confidence: Children will leave the workshop with the tools and assurance to approach early math challenges with enthusiasm.
